Kowalewski Kitchen

We were contacted by the client to renovate a cluttered kitchen and try to create more space. The Client wanted to have a better working flow through the kitchen, create an office space to watch the children doing their homework and have more storage space to tuck things away and be more organized. The clients do a lot of cooking for the extended family, so space and equipment was needed to prepare and cook for large groups.

In order to enlarge the kitchen and create an open feel, we had to open some walls. The existing powder room was removed completely, and a new layout allowed for much more room in the kitchen for the home office space. A large opening was created in the wall between the kitchen and family room to accommodate an elevated bar space. This opened the entire space to see from the front of the house to the back and allows for people to interact between the two rooms. Gone was the peninsula, cabinets above, and all the bulkheads. New was the island with a second oven and cooktop with downdraft, new wall cabinets to the ceiling for more storage. A larger main sink was installed and a secondary prep sink was installed by the elevated bar creating more prep room  and clean up for large gatherings. Medallion Cabinetry was installed with Cambria quartz tops and tile backsplash. Glass tile was added, an element the client desired to accent the backsplash. Two stage crown finished the tops, and under wall cabinet skin and trim was installed to allow for the recessed puck lights to be installed hiding any wiring and providing a finished look. Large 18 x18 tiles were installed on the floor to give a spacious feel. An old bow window was replaced with a new Andersen Frenchwood Sliding door for direct access to the deck.

From the old, nonfunctional space with broken appliances, the transformed kitchen provides a large, open area that is functional and inviting for a family that loves to entertain.
